This is Hayden King’s David Temby hand assembled trumpet . Hayden plays most styles from Classical to Jazz and Pop. At 21 years of age, Temby Artist Hayden King is fast becoming one of the busiest trumpet performers and teachers in Adelaide, South Australia. Hayden and David communicated for months before getting together for a few days, finally working through component selections to match the individual requirements of the player.
This horn features a Temby 725L lightweight yellow brass bell without any lacquer or plating. It has an early taper with a 5″ bell diameter. The horn is built on a silver plated Temby professional valve section which is fast, smooth and reliable.
The blow is open, and the tone is broad, but with a defined core. There is just enough resistance to provide support for the player, without creating too much back-pressure. The lightweight big bell allows for a wider range of tonal colours and faster response. The balance of the horn makes this a very comfortable horn to play for extended periods.
This horn is incredibly versatile. For Hayden, it provides him with the sound and response he requires for classical work, whilst being versatile when crossing over to jazz, commercial and other styles.
This David Temby hand assembled trumpet has it’s own individual look with hand finished “fine matting” of the brass bell and silver plated leadpipe and sections of the valve slides. It’s a mixture of classic and contemporary. Hayden worked alongside me for a few days so that every detail was personalised for him.
