Gianni Marinucci

Gianni Marinucci

“A few years back I was asked to book some special guests for the late night Jazz I ran at The Melbourne International Brass Festival. I immediately thought of the man who inspired me so much through my career. That man was Bob Venier. His sound and musicality on the trumpet gave me real direction and continue to inspire me to this day. On the gig, Bobby told me his newly acquired Temby trumpet was the best horn he had played.

Of course I was curious, but was involved with another company. Recently I went and tried a whole bunch of horns as I was after a new direction, and the Temby B.V. model was one I tried. I could not stop thinking about that horn, and eventually borrowed one to try on a whole bunch of gigs. Needless to say I fell in love with it. It helped make that sound I hear in my head and played so easily.

I am so proud to endorse the trumpet of my idol Bobby Venier, beautifully designed by Dave Temby. Thankyou Dave, I so look forward to working together!”

Cheers,

“Gianni Marinucci’s warm and beautifully colourful sound has been admired by his audiences and peers for many years. Gianni treats his audiences with beautiful, heartfelt and story telling lines that can take you around the world in one tune. He has that rare musical sixth sense which enhances a vocalist’s performance and takes him to a huge variety of musical settings – all with complete artistry.

I have been a big fan of Gianni’s playing for a long time, and are thrilled and honoured that Gianni, as a highly respected artist, educator and true professional in his field, is now playing a Temby B.V. model trumpet. I personally also look forward to having Bob Venier and Gianni Marinucci perform together – creating a complex sound palate with great musical and personal interchanges.”

Welcome Gianni, with many thanks!

2016 Update

I endorse and play custom David Temby trumpets. I have worked with Dave for the last 4 years on putting a versatile horn together that is easy to play at very soft volumes. This horn is super responsive, has great valves and lets me express my improvisatory ideas with greater ease.

This horn is incredibly versatile. , It lends itself to warm and lyrical playing, but with the ability to blend perfectly in a section.

Temby Customised Trumpet – 2015 No.2

From David Temby: This horn is incredibly versatile. It is the culmination of all the prototypes that have been made for Gianni Marinucci, to showcase his warm and lyrical playing, but with the ability to blend perfectly in a section. After playing his Temby BV (Bob Venier Model) on many gigs, Gianni and I decided to work together to build a number of prototype horns to test.

“This new horn is the culmination of more than two years of assembly, disassembly, assembly (repeat, repeat, repeat) of many combinations of different lead pipes, bells, stays, pistons, valve caps and tops and more. It features the new Temby 725L lightweight yellow brass bell with an early taper and a 5″ bell diameter.

The blow is open, and the tone is broad, but with a defined core. The lightweight big bell allows for a wider range of tonal colours and faster response. The balance of the horn makes this a very comfortable horn to play for extended periods.

This trumpet has it’s own individual look with hand finished “matting” of the brass bell and silver plated leadpipe and sections of the valve slides. It’s a mixture of classic and contemporary.

General specifications:

All Temby Professional and Custom Trumpets feature ML .460″ bore, yellow brass valve section, monel pistons, amado water keys, West Australian mother of pearl valve top inserts, medium heavy bottom caps, deluxe backpack case, D and rounded tuning slides (except reverse leadpipe and some custom models)”
