Jody Jazz Mouthpieces

Jody Jazz

JodyJazz “Classic” Sax Mouthpiece (soprano, alto and tenor)

JodyJazz Classic Sax MouthpieceThe JodyJazz “Classic” Tenor Sax mouthpiece is a "free blowing" easy to play mouthpiece that captures the full range of tonal qualities of the instrument. The low register of the saxophone is full, round and strong, while the upper register is warm sounding, and in tune. In addition, the altissimo register responds extremely well on a JodyJazz “Classic”. The mouthpiece has a clean, focused sound with excellent projection, while maintaining extraordinary versatility. Excellent for straight ahead jazz playing, and due to it's versatility, the JodyJazz “Classic” Tenor Saxophone mouthpiece blends nicely with a concert band or saxophone quartet.

JodyJazz “Classic” Mouthpieces are made of a proprietary polycarbonate alloy with a synthetic rubber mix– which is a high tech, expensive material. This is not like “ABS” plastic or any other kind of plastic material currently used for clarinet and saxophone mouthpieces. In fact the material that makes the JodyJazz Classic mouthpiece is six times more expensive than that used in other plastic mouthpieces. The formula to our material, which is highly guarded secret, contains a certain amount of synthetic rubber which is a form of plastic that can be molded into parts that feel just like rubber. Because of the addition of the synthetic rubber, JodyJazz Classic Mouthpieces, produce the warm overtones that hard rubber mouthpieces can produce while allowing us to use the manufacturing process know as precision injection molding. Besides being able to flawlessly produce the intricate forms and curves of a clarinet or saxophone mouthpiece, injection molding allows us to achieve uniform cooling. As each mouthpiece is molded it is dropped into a huge vat of cool water insuring that each mouthpiece cools at the same rate. Cooling is critical in this type of manufacturing as well as in the manufacturing of hard rubber mouthpieces because if cooling occurs at different temperatures than the mouthpieces will have slightly different dimensions.

The JodyJazz HR*
Hard Rubber Sax Mouthpiece (soprano, alto and tenor)

JodyJazz HR* Hard Rubber Sax MouthpieceJodyJazz HR* (pronounced HR Star) - Vintage Jazz Sound. It has the look, feel and even the smell of Vintage Hard Rubber.

The HR* is a hard rubber saxophone mouthpiece aimed at professionals and students looking for a traditional versatile mouthpiece. High quality control standards, a beautiful warm sound and a nice free blowing feel make these new mouthpieces amazing players. We feel that this mouthpiece can stand up to any hard rubber saxophone mouthpiece on the market.

I get these blanks from a source in Germany and the Hard Rubber has the look, feel and sound of Vintage hard Rubber sax mouthpieces that make the most sought after mouthpieces. The mouthpieces are faced on a special facing machine and then hand finished.

The Soprano sax model is a straight-ahead jazz soprano mouthpiece. The sound is warm and round with good projection. The HR* Soprano is our warmest, darkest sounding soprano mouthpiece. The Chamber is round and smooth.

The alto sax model is aimed directly at the Meyer Alto sax mouthpiece. We believe that you and your customer will be very happy with the quality and price of these mouthpieces. The sound is similar to a Meyer but with a little more projection and brightness. The Chamber is round and smooth like the Meyer.

The Tenor sax model is aimed directly at the Otto Link Tenor sax mouthpiece. The sound is very similar to an Otto Link but with a little more projection and brightness and a more free blowing less resistant feel. The Chamber is round and smooth like the Link.

JodyJazz DV and JodyJazz DV NY (soprano, alto, tenor and bari)

JodyJazz DV and JodyJazz DV NY Saxophone Mouthpiece
24kt Gold Plated Metal Saxophone Mouthpiece available for Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bari

Jody Espina has introduced the concept of Golden Section Proportions to the art of high end saxophone mouthpiece design. This perfect chamber/bore/facing combination will result in an extraordinary playing experience for you.

Effortless Power & Beauty
Here, nature, science and imagination combine to create a revolutionary new saxophone mouthpiece. Jody Espina has designed the patent pending JodyJazz DV using proportions and principles found in nature. For the most effortless playing experience of your life we invite you to try the DV.

The DV NY produces a darker, less bright tone than the contemporary sound of the DV. The deep baffle/chamber design of the DV NY produce a beautiful Classic Jazz Tenor sound reminiscent of the masters of the 50’s and 60’s.

JodyJazz ESP Gold

JodyJazz ESP Gold Saxophone MouthpieceThe JodyJazz ESP Soprano Gold is a metal soprano saxophone mouthpiece with flawless workmanship. The workmanship is evident in the beautiful thin side and tip rails and hand cut baffles. This metal sax mouthpiece is machined from a solid bar of the finest virgin brass, meaning no seams! The ESP is beautifully plated with the finest 24kt, Hard Gold plating available. A very interesting feature is that the new JodyJazz has a removable baffle with a 24kt Gold plated secondary reed which gives the mouthpiece more brilliance and projection.

The chamber is big and fat, and the sound is unusually full. Compared to many of the high baffle metal sax mouthpieces, the JodyJazz ESP will deliver a more round full sound with more bottom end without sacrificing high end or ease of playing.

The sound, the intonation and the ease of playing are the factors that I believe will make this mouthpiece a classic. This mouthpiece will deliver a round full sound with very good projection

JodyJazz "Classic" Clarinet MouthpieceThe JodyJazz “Classic” Clarinet Mouthpiece is available in facings 2 - 9 in Classic Black and Ruby Red. The JodyJazz Clarinet Mouthpiece is shipped with a Deluxe Rovner (Dark) Ligature and Cap and a Deluxe Mouthpiece Pouch.

The JodyJazz Clarinet Mouthpiece has a deep, dark, woody clarinet sound. A very centered sound is produced from this mouthpiece with excellent projection. Intonation is flawless throughout the range of the clarinet. The JodyJazz Clarinet Mouthpiece is perfect for band, orchestra and classical music settings and in the more open facings (6-8) it is the best Jazz Clarinet Mouthpiece that I have ever played.
